Network Routers

When it comes to technology, the most difficult task is to choose the best type of router for your home environment. The main question that comes to mind is; What Router to buy. There are so many different types of wireless routers available on the market to choose from. Some are very expensive and have features that you might not ever need. Some are in the middle and can do a lot at a great price.

Still, some network routers are the least expensive and give you the least amount of options, but still get the job done. You can’t decide anything based on the price tag alone. Some users will only need a network router for the internet at home and isn’t a big gamer.

In that situation a Wireless N Routers might be all that’s needed. Amazon makes it easy to search for the best selling wireless n routers on the market. I’ve purchased several Wireless N Routers over the years and think the ones in the ads below, should get the job done. See, answering the question; What Router to buy, is no easy feat.

The routers that are the most popular on the a the market right now are Wireless AC Routers. AC Routers pack some serious speed in their new age design. With speeds of over 1.3Gbps, you can stream Netflix and get some major gaming in, while studying online. The AC Routers that are most popular can be found below. The AC Router I see most recommended is the Asus RT-AC88U. As AC Routers get more heavily adopted and produced, I see the price dropping in time for Christmas season.

I’ve seen several sales on this router in the past so keep your eyes on Amazon for the latest deals. As you can see, there’s a lot of quality network routers available in your price range. AC Routers are starting to show up in more and more offices across the US. They’re becoming more widely adapted.

Now that we have an idea of what’s on the market for Wireless N Routers and Wireless AC Routers, lets focus on the king of the jungle.

Wireless AD Routers are the fastest routers on the market to date. AD Routers are the next gen routers everyone is talking about. If someone asked me what router to buy, I would look long and hard at Wireless AD Routers. Since they’re the newest, they come with a heftier price.

In my opinion, the price is worth the benefits. With 802.11ad speeds of over 4Gbps, you can do a lot of streaming with these routers. If you’re like me, you’re streaming on several devices while also surfing the web.

AD Routers are the best routers for streaming 4K content and for hardcore video gaming. The one drawback is that to get the fastest speed, you need to be pretty close to the network router. For my home setup, I have the wireless router only a couple feet away so I’m able to get max speeds. See our latest posts on Wireless Routers.

The 2 hotest and fastest AD Routers on the market are the TP-Link Talon AD7200 and Netgear Nighthawk X10 . See the suggestions below from Amazon for some other AD Routers on the market.

As you can see, there’s a lot to answering the question, what router to buy. Determining what router works best for your environment can be broken down into 3 main questions.

  1. What is your budget?
  2. How many devices will access the internet?
  3. Will you be streaming a lot of HD/4K content?

If your budget is under $150, I would look at a Wireless N Router. You can get some pretty descent N Routers for under $150. Here’s one that I think is pretty good, but as always, do your own research.
